Dhaka, Sept 5 (V7N): The High Court has issued a ruling today, 5 September, inquiring why the government has not yet appointed a receiver to manage all institutions under the Beximco Group, owned by Salman F Rahman.
The ruling was given by the HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Muhammad Mahbub ul Islam following a writ petition.
Deputy Attorney General Redwan Ahmed Ranjeev confirmed the development to The Business Standard.
The court also requested clarification on why the Bangladesh Bank should not be directed to reveal the total outstanding loans of the Beximco Group and the amount of money allegedly smuggled by the group.
The governor of Bangladesh Bank, the finance secretary, and other relevant officials have been asked to respond to these inquiries within four weeks.
During the hearing, Advocate Masood R Sobhan represented the petitioner, while Deputy Attorney General Redwan Ahmed Ranjeev and Assistant Attorney General Mujahidul Islam Shaheen represented the state.
