Tangail, Feb 24, (V7N) - In protest against the ongoing incidents of rape and sexual violence against women and children across the country, the Anti-Sexual Harassment Platform for Women and Children held a day-long sit-in program in Tangail.

Coordinators of the anti-discrimination movement organized the protest under the banner of Women and Children Sexual Violence.

The program began at 9:00 AM in front of the Tangail Central Shaheed Minar and continued until 5:00 PM. During the protest, participants displayed placards and banners demanding justice for rape victims and praying for the soul of the Home Affairs Advisor.

The protesters revealed that 17 incidents of rape had occurred in the last 48 hours across the country, showing a severe decline in law and order. They called for swift investigations into these cases and the swift prosecution of those responsible, urging the government to ensure the safety of women.

Prominent speakers at the event included Fatema Rahman Bithi, Tawhida Islam Shopnil, and Prema Sarkar, along with other protesters.
