Pabna , Oct 19 V7N- A two-day Bhola Baich (raft race) competition has begun in Chatmohar, Pabna, to preserve the rural tradition and introduce it to the younger generation. The 7th edition of this competition was inaugurated on Saturday, October 19, at Kamar Bill in Mahela village of the upazila.

The event, organized by the villagers of Mahela, was inaugurated by businessman and social worker Anwar Parvez Madhu. The opening ceremony, chaired by Alhaj Abu Bakkar Pramanik, featured Rabiul Karim Tarek, former chairman of Parswdanga Union Parishad, as the chief guest. Special guests included Shahedur Rahman Shahed and Majnur Rahman Master.

On the first day, five rafts participated: Khatbari New Banglar Bagh, Pabna Express, Banglar Duldul, Mahela Express, and Barkona Mae Doa. A large number of spectators, including men, women, and children, gathered around the bill to enjoy the traditional rural Bengal competition.The final race will be held on Sunday, October 20.

Speaking to Voice Seven News, Anwar Parvez Madhu emphasized the importance of preserving traditional sports, saying, "Traditional sports of rural Bengal are disappearing day by day. The *Vela Baich* competition is a major attraction for the people of Bilanchal. This event aims to keep this tradition alive and introduce it to the new generation. We will continue this event in the future."

Rabiul Karim Tarek added, "We organize this competition regardless of political affiliation, allowing the villagers to experience pure joy. The new generation is reconnecting with rural sports, and a festive atmosphere has taken over the area during the competition."
