RAJSHAHI, Mar 05 (V7N) – Students of Rajshahi University (RU) staged a railway blockade on Wednesday (March 5) in protest against what they call "Dhaka University (DU) dominance" in key national institutions. The demonstration halted train services across the country for nearly an hour and a half before being lifted around 12:30 PM, restoring normal rail operations.
The protesting students alleged that Dhaka and Dhaka University alumni dominate major recruitment bodies, including the Public Service Commission (PSC) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). They demanded equal opportunities for students from all universities and an end to what they described as Dhaka-centric policies.
This protest follows a campus march on Tuesday night where students voiced similar grievances. They called for a complete restructuring of recruitment policies to ensure fairness across Bangladesh.
