Dhaka, Jun 04 (V7N) – The government has handed over another 11.40 acres of land to Jagannath University (JU) for its new campus in Keraniganj, bringing the total acquired land to 200 acres.
This development was confirmed by the Press Wing of the Chief Advisor on Tuesday night (June 3).
According to the statement, the land acquisition was carried out under LA Case No. 9/2022-2023 as part of the ongoing “Establishment of New Campus of Jagannath University” project. The newly acquired land is located in Paschimdi Mouza under Keraniganj Upazila.
The Dhaka District Administration, under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner, facilitated the land transfer. A team comprising the land acquisition officer, kanungo, and surveyor was present on site to formally hand over possession to the university authorities.
Present during the handover were the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, and other faculty members, along with students of Jagannath University.
This marks the second phase of land acquisition for JU’s new campus. Previously, 188.60 acres of land in the same mouza were acquired and handed over on January 23, 2020, under LA Case No. 2/2018-2019.
The expanded campus aims to alleviate space constraints at JU’s current location and provide modern educational and research facilities to accommodate its growing student body.
