Dhaka, Sept 9 (V7N) – After months of anticipation, the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall elections began amid a festive and enthusiastic atmosphere on campus. Students flocked to polling centers in large numbers, eager to vote for their preferred candidates following recent political changes. Observers noted a high level of engagement among students, reflecting their desire for a fair and transparent election process.
At each polling station, students queued with excitement and optimism. Security was tight at all campus entrances, with access restricted to university faculty, staff, and students. Only journalists and authorized election pass holders were allowed inside. Law enforcement personnel were deployed throughout the campus to ensure the safety and rights of voters.
This year’s DUCSU election saw participation from at least ten panels, including both partial and full slates, signaling a hopeful return of healthy student politics. Faculty and students expressed optimism that the elections would bring qualitative changes, protect student rights, and reinforce democratic practices within the university.
Despite uncertainty over the results, the primary expectation among the university community remains a free, fair, and transparent election process, underscoring the importance of democratic engagement and student participation.
