Dhaka, Sep 11 (V7N) – Newly elected leaders of the Shibir-backed United Student Alliance in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections have paid tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War at Rayerbazar. The homage was offered on Thursday morning.

The panel formally began its post-election activities with prayers at the mass grave of the July martyrs, pledging to uphold the ideals of both the martyrs of 1971 and those of July 2024. The leaders vowed to work toward building a Dhaka University free from discrimination and aligned with the aspirations of the student community.

Newly elected Vice President (VP) Sadiq Kayem said he would take student opinions into account in implementing the election manifesto. “Our activities will reflect the expectations of all students, not just a particular group,” he added.

Meanwhile, General Secretary (GS) SM Farhad pledged to honor the sacrifices of the martyrs through dedicated work. He also alleged that a section of the Indian media was spreading “false information about the hijab issue” to further its agenda.
