Savar, Sep 11 (V7N) – Tensions rose in the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) elections as candidates from the Jhatra Dal-backed panel alleged potential rigging.

At a press conference held at Maulana Bhashani Hall, VP candidate Sheikh Sadi Hasan claimed that the Election Commission supplied ballots from a company linked to Jamaat-e-Islami without proper procurement, raising concerns of unfair advantage for Chhatra Shibir-backed candidates. He also said ordinary students are panicking due to the presence of party activists around campus.

Voting began at 9 am and will continue until 5 pm across 21 residential halls, with 11,897 students eligible to vote. A total of 177 candidates are contesting for 25 central posts, with eight panels including Left, Shibir, Chhatra Dal, and independent candidates.
