Savar, Sep 12 (V7N) – The funeral of Jannatul Ferdous, assistant professor of the Fine Arts Department at Jahangirnagar University (JU) and polling officer, was held on Friday (Sept 12) at the university’s central playground following Juma prayers.

Ferdous had fallen ill while counting votes at the Senate Bhaban during the JUCSU and Hall Parliament elections on Thursday morning (Sept 11). She was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

University Proctor and Member Secretary of the Election Commission, Professor AKM Rashidul Alam, said that the counting of votes for all halls could not be completed the previous night because everyone was exhausted and polling agents were unavailable. “It was time to count votes for Pritilata Hall Parliament in the morning. She went to the counting center with her colleagues but collapsed at the door of the Senate Hall,” he explained.

Her sudden death has cast a mourning atmosphere among teachers and students at the university. Ferdous had served as an assistant professor in the Fine Arts Department, earning respect for her dedication to teaching and student engagement.
