Savar, Sep 13 (V7N) – The results of the Jahangirnagar University Central Student Union (JUCSU) and Hall Parliament elections were officially announced on Saturday evening at the university’s Senate Building. The announcement came after a three-day-long counting process that began shortly after the elections on Thursday (September 11).

At the start of the results ceremony, attendees observed a minute of silence in memory of Jannatul Ferdous, an assistant professor of the Fine Arts Department and returning officer of Pritilata Hall, who tragically passed away while on duty during the elections.

The results were announced by Chief Election Commissioner Professor Md. Moniruzzaman, accompanied by Member Secretary Professor AKM Rashidul Alam, Member Lutful Elahi, and several university faculty members.

Voting was conducted across 21 residential halls from 9 am to 5 pm last Thursday. After voting concluded, ballot boxes were transferred to the Senate Building, and counting commenced around 10 pm that night. Counting continued until Friday afternoon but was temporarily suspended following an emergency meeting of the Election Commission. The process resumed around 7:30 pm Friday evening and was extended twice before final results were set for Saturday evening.

A total of 11,743 voters were registered for the election, including 5,728 female voters and 6,015 male voters. The voter turnout was approximately 68 percent.

The university’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Sohel Ahmed, confirmed that the counting of votes was completed around 2:30 pm on Saturday, paving the way for the formal announcement of results later that evening.
