Five fishermen of Hnila Union of Teknaf Upazila were caught by Myanmar Border Guard Force (BGP) while fishing in Naf River and sent to Myanmar jail. The fishermen's family claims that they have been living inhumanely in Myanmar prisons since 12/9/2023.

The prisoners in Myanmar jail are Oman Faruk (20) son of Late Mohammed Hossain, Fazal Karim (26), son of Nurul Islam, Abu Bakkar (25), son of Late Nur Mohammed, Abdullah (23), son of Abul Hossain and Rofique Uddin son of Nurul Bashar.

Fariza Khatun, the wife of Omar Faruk, a resident of Leda in Hnila Union Cox’s Bazar Bangladesh, who is imprisoned in Myanmar prison, said to Voice7 News, sitting in a dilapidated house. My husband has been in Myanmar prison for almost 6 months.

So now it is very difficult to continue the family with two children. My family is living in a kind of starvation-semi-starvation. I am just waiting when my husband will return from Myanmar prison. But he does not know when his Omar Faruk will be able to return.

Teknaf Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md Adnan Chowdhury told Voice7 News that the list of prisoners in Myanmar was sent to the ministry through DC. At the end of the legal action they will be brought back to the country.
