Dhaka, Apr 25 (V7N)- Saiful Haque, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Revolutionary Workers Party, expressed significant concerns over the upcoming national elections while addressing the party’s central organizational conference at the Engineering Institution in Dhaka on Friday morning.
Haque raised alarms about the growing doubts surrounding the government’s impartiality, stressing that if the credibility of the government is questioned, the legitimacy of the upcoming elections will also come under scrutiny.
He highlighted the dangers of an unelected government remaining in power for an extended period, warning that it could lead to multidimensional risks for the country. However, Haque indicated that if the government is willing, elections could take place as early as December this year.
Additionally, Haque emphasized the importance of maintaining Bangladesh's independence in foreign affairs, cautioning against leaning too heavily towards any superpower. He also urged political parties to foster unity and protect the achievements of the mass uprisings that have shaped the nation’s democratic progress.
The remarks reflect growing concerns among political circles as the country approaches the critical national elections.
