The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, under the leadership of Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan, has granted permission to Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Amanullah Aman to seek medical treatment abroad. The decision was made on Monday (May 6), allowing Aman to travel overseas for medical care.

As per the order issued by the Appellate Division, Aman is required to return to the country within one month following the completion of his treatment abroad. Furthermore, he must inform the relevant court of his return by June 10.

Amanullah Aman's need for medical attention arose after he was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital last March due to sudden chest pain. Although he received treatment at the hospital, he was subsequently discharged the following day. His lawyer, Advocate Nazmul Huda, filed an application with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, seeking permission for Aman's travel abroad for medical treatment.

It's worth noting that Aman had previously been granted interim bail by the Appellate Division after being sentenced to 13 years in a case involving the illegal acquisition of wealth and the concealment of information in asset declaration. However, the court stipulated that any plans to travel abroad must be approved by the court, leading to the recent application for permission.

This decision underscores the judiciary's consideration for individuals requiring medical treatment while ensuring compliance with legal procedures and requirements.
