Dhaka, Aug 27 (V7N): Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-Jasod President and former Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has been placed on a seven-day remand by a Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court in connection with a murder case filed at New Market police station.
The court's decision, made by Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Md Ali Haider, came in response to a police petition requesting a 10-day remand for further interrogation, as reported by Mohammad Liakat Hossain, the general recording officer at New Market police station.
Hasanul Haq Inu was apprehended on Monday in the Uttara area of Dhaka and subsequently taken to the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
The case, filed by Abdur Rahman, the brother-in-law of the murder victim Abdul Wadud, on August 21, accuses 130 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader, and Hasanul Haq Inu.
Inu, a close ally of the deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is associated with the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-Jasod, a prominent party within the AL-led political alliance. Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India on August 5 following a student-led uprising.
