Dhaka, Mar 01 (V7N) –The Press Wing of the Chief Advisor's Office has dismissed a report published by India's The Tribune newspaper as "pure fiction."
In a Facebook post on Saturday, the Press Wing - Facts stated that the report, titled "ISI, Bangladesh operatives teaming up to revive ULFA camps near Assam border," is entirely baseless.
The statement noted that since the people of Bangladesh overthrew Sheikh Hasina’s corrupt and oppressive regime, fabricated stories like these are being circulated without any credible evidence or reputable sources.
The Facebook post further clarified that the report primarily relied on a statement from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who himself said he does not believe that ULFA leader Paresh Baruah has any intention of resuming militant activities.
The Tribune report also claims that “Intelligence agencies suspect that Baruah may soon be released”, while in reality, he is believed to be on the run, possibly in China.
Additionally, the report states that the newspaper is monitoring Arabic, Urdu, and Bangla media in Bangladesh.
However, the Press Wing dismissed this as a fictional narrative, saying the story is “exclusive” to The Tribune only because it exists purely in the imagination of its staff.
