Dhaka, Oct 24 (V7N) — Another 309 Bangladeshi nationals have returned home from Libya, marking the second phase of a voluntary repatriation program jointly coordinated by the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli and the Libyan Government of National Accord.
A special chartered flight carrying the returnees landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 9:30 am on Friday (October 24).
According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli, the group consisted of Bangladeshis who had voluntarily expressed their wish to return home amid ongoing instability and economic hardship in Libya. The embassy facilitated the repatriation process — including the preparation of travel documents and the issuance of exit permits by local authorities — with full cooperation from Libyan officials.
This was the second charter flight arranged under the initiative. In the first phase on October 9, another 309 Bangladeshi workers were brought home. Upon arrival, many of them shared stories of hardship and exploitation during their stay in the conflict-affected North African nation.
The embassy further announced that efforts are underway to repatriate an additional 300 Bangladeshis from Misrata and Tripoli on October 30, following the same process.
