Dhaka, April 13 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Public Service Commission has announced a series of major reforms aimed at eliminating long-standing delays and inefficiencies in the BCS recruitment process.
The reform plan was presented on Monday morning at a hotel in the capital, outlining initiatives taken by the commission since October 2024.
According to the report, the PSC has introduced a “One BCS, One Year” plan to ensure faster and more transparent recruitment. The commission also plans to reduce the weight of viva voce marks from 100, placing greater emphasis on written examinations.
To prevent question paper leaks and enhance security, the PSC is introducing its own printing system along with a digital tracking mechanism. The entire recruitment process is also being brought under automation, which is expected to reduce answer script evaluation time from around six months to just a few weeks.
In addition, the application fee for the BCS examination has been reduced significantly—from Tk 700 to Tk 200—making the process more accessible to candidates.
PSC Chairman Mobasher Monem said the commission had become ineffective in the past, and efforts are now underway to identify and address those issues to modernize the institution.
