DHAKA, July 10, (V7N) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called for transforming the country's demographic potential into a driving force for building a prosperous nation, emphasising human resource development, universal healthcare expansion, strengthened family planning programmes, and the empowerment of women and youth.

In a message issued on the eve of World Population Day 2026, the Prime Minister said improving people's quality of life and ensuring a healthy, educated, skilled, and dignified life for every citizen is one of the government's foremost commitments. He said the administration is working relentlessly to build a prosperous, inclusive, and self-reliant Bangladesh by harnessing demographic potential for sustainable development.

The Prime Minister identified young people as the principal driving force of a knowledge-based, technology-driven economy and said the government is implementing multidimensional initiatives integrating education, skills development, employment, healthcare, and family planning. He called upon the nation—particularly the younger generation—to embrace the spirit of this year's theme, "Realising the hopes and aspirations of young people today and for the future," and actively contribute to its objectives.

He said Bangladesh's future depends on a generation that is educated, skilled, technology-friendly, healthy, humane, and innovative. The state must ensure an environment where young people can access quality education, employment, improved healthcare, and build safe, dignified, and happy families based on their aspirations and values.

The Prime Minister noted that challenges such as child marriage, adolescent motherhood, and malnutrition continue to hinder youth development, affecting not only individuals but also human resource development, education continuity, women's empowerment, maternal and child health, and national productivity. The government is implementing coordinated programmes to prevent child marriage, expand quality sexual and reproductive healthcare for adolescents, improve nutrition, and strengthen life skills-based education.

He reaffirmed that a healthy population is a prerequisite for building a developed nation, and the government is working to ensure accessible, quality, and accountable healthcare for all, while strengthening family planning programmes, expanding technology-based healthcare, and developing skilled human resources.

The Prime Minister expressed firm belief that if every young man and woman is given equal opportunities to grow healthy, educated, skilled, and confident, they will become the principal driving force behind a prosperous and developed Bangladesh. He urged all to work together to build a nation where every young person's hopes and potential are fully realised. He wished every success to all programmes marking World Population Day 2026.
