Dhaka, July 16 (V7N) — The second session of the 13th National Parliament, which also served as the budget session for the fiscal year 2026-27, concluded on Wednesday after passing a national budget of Tk 9 lakh 38 thousand crore.
Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal announced the closure of the session by reading out President Mohammed Shahabuddin’s prorogation order.
This was the first budget of the BNP-led government formed after the national election held on February 12.
The budget session began on June 7, while Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury presented the proposed budget in Parliament on June 11.
The 26-working-day session ended on July 15. General discussions on the budget continued for 48 hours and 51 minutes over 14 working days, with 316 lawmakers taking part. During the session, 10 government bills were passed.
According to parliamentary records, 715 notices were submitted under Rule 71 of the Rules of Procedure. Of these, 24 were accepted, and discussions were held on 22 notices. A total of 125 two-minute notices under Rule 71(A) were also discussed.
Four decision motions under Rule 131 were debated and resolved during the session.
A total of 278 questions were submitted for answers from the Prime Minister, with responses to 35 questions placed before Parliament. Lawmakers submitted 5,031 questions to ministers of different ministries, of which 3,474 were answered.
During the session, 11 parliamentary committees, including a special committee on constitutional amendments, were formed. The Business Advisory Committee was also reconstituted.
