Dhaka, Dec 19 (V7N) – Former Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has issued a strong warning that the ongoing movement will become more intense if those responsible for the killing of Inquilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi are not promptly handed over to Bangladeshi authorities.

He made the remarks late Thursday night while addressing a protest rally at Shahbagh in the capital, organized in response to Hadi’s death. People from various walks of life participated in the demonstration, expressing anger and demanding justice.

Asif Mahmud said that the killers of Sharif Osman Hadi must be transferred to Bangladesh without delay. He warned that failure to do so would only strengthen public resistance, stating that freedom-loving citizens would not stop their struggle under any circumstances. According to him, the movement would grow increasingly uncompromising.

He further alleged that the killing of Hadi amounted to a declaration of war against the people by the banned and fugitive Awami League and its allies. Recalling the July mass uprising, he said that the people of Bangladesh had repeatedly proven their resilience through sacrifice and bloodshed, and that no force could withstand them when they rise in resistance.

Highlighting Hadi’s role in sustaining the July uprising, Asif Mahmud said Hadi had consistently led social, cultural, and political struggles in a disciplined and principled manner. He stressed that there was no place for violence, internal conflict, or opportunistic groups within the movement and urged protesters to carry the struggle forward constructively and systematically.

Calling for unity, he said the students and citizens who had once led the July uprising had once again come together. He urged everyone to continue the movement peacefully, in an organized manner, and with discipline, reiterating that the protests would continue until Hadi’s killers are handed over.

Sharif Osman Hadi had been actively campaigning as an independent candidate in Dhaka-8 constituency. On December 12, after Friday prayers, he was critically injured when assailants opened fire on him on Box Culvert Road in the Purana Paltan area of Dhaka. He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later transferred to Evercare Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was flown to Singapore General Hospital on December 15 for advanced treatment, where he died on Thursday night.
