Mongla, Jan 24, (V7N) - The Forest Department has seized fish fries of "Paisa" fish harvested illegally from the Sundarbans. The seized fries were later released back into the rivers of Sundarbans.
Surajit Chowdhury, the officer in charge of the Dhankmari station under the Eastern Sundarbans Forest Division, stated that a group of illegal fishermen were secretly extracting "Paisa" fish fries from the rivers and canals of Sundarbans and attempting to smuggle them by road. Acting on a tip-off, the Forest Department launched an operation early Thursday morning at the Bogura River ghat near the Pasher River in Mongla. During the raid, a trawler was seized along with 10 fishermen aboard. The trawler was found to be carrying 50,000 pieces of "Paisa" fish fries.
The seized fries were released into the Pasher River in Sundarbans by the Forest Department says.
Regarding the incident, Forest Officer Surajit Chowdhury mentioned that legal actions are being prepared against the arrested fishermen and the trawler.
