Jhalkathi, Feb 13 (V7N) – "Journalists are the fourth pillar of the state, but there are existing conflicts among them. These differences must be set aside for unity," said District Commissioner Ashrafur Rahman. He emphasized the need for journalists to come together to address inequalities and urged the intellectuals in the field to contribute to solving issues of disparity.
The District Commissioner made these remarks as the chief guest during a discussion session titled “Role of Media in Building an Egalitarian New Bangladesh” held on February 12 at the District Commissioner’s office. Rahman further stressed the importance of journalists thoroughly understanding their subjects before reporting, continuing to develop their knowledge, and presenting accurate information. He also pointed out that ethical journalists play a significant role in the welfare of the country, society, and their communities.
The session was chaired by Afroza Naich Rima, Deputy Head of the Regional Information Office of Barisal, with special guests including Mohitul Islam, Additional Police Super (Sadar Circle). The event was moderated by Ahsan Kabir, Deputy Director of the Barisal Regional Information Office.
Other speakers at the session included newly appointed District Information Officer Lelin Bala, outgoing Information Officer Mridul Chowdhury, Press Club President Kazi Khalil, General Secretary Md. Akkas Sikder, President of the Television Journalists Association Azmeer Talukder, General Secretary Md. Shafiul Azam Tutul, and several local journalists.
