Rajshahi, Feb 13 (V7N) – In Godagari upazila, at least 10 people, including children and the elderly, have been injured by bites from a rabid dog in a single day. The dog attacked anyone it encountered in the Mahishalbari, Alipur, and Sagarpara areas of Godagari municipality. Locals eventually killed the dog by beating it with sticks.

According to residents, the dog began biting people from Sunday through Tuesday, spreading fear among the community. On Tuesday evening, locals spotted the dog in the Sagarpara area and killed it, reducing the panic.

The Godagari Upazila Health Complex reported that 10 people had received treatment for dog bites from Sunday evening to Tuesday night. Several others were referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Shahidul Islam from Mahishalbari shared that his son was playing outside their home on Monday when the rabid dog attacked and bit him in multiple places. His son was later admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Hossain Ali from Alipur described how his 4-year-old son was also bitten by the dog on Sunday morning while playing behind their house. They immediately took him to the Godagari Health Complex, where doctors provided a prescription for rabies vaccine, which they later purchased from Rajshahi.

Dr. Hasanul Zahid, a medical officer at the Upazila Health Complex, confirmed that several people had come for treatment after being bitten by the dog. Vaccines for rabies prevention are available, and treatments are ongoing.
