Pabna, Apr 23 (V7N)- Residents of Parshadanga Union in Chatmohar Upazila, Pabna, formed a human chain on Wednesday afternoon to protest alleged irregularities in the allocation of GR (Gratuitous Relief) rice to various religious institutions in the area.

The demonstration took place at Mahela Bazar in Parshadanga Union.

Speakers at the human chain alleged significant irregularities in the allocation of eleven and a half metric tons of rice to seven religious institutions within the union. They claimed that a group embezzled the rice by creating fraudulent committees without the knowledge of the actual institution committees. This alleged misappropriation has angered local residents, who are demanding the immediate return of the embezzled rice or its monetary equivalent to the concerned institutions, as well as legal action against those responsible.

Local residents Ripon Rahman, Faisal Kabir, SK Panna Mamun, and Alhaj Sadek Ali were among those who addressed the gathering.
