Pabna, July 7 (V7N) - A weeklong tree plantation campaign and tree fair has begun in Pabna under the slogan “Planned Afforestation for a Greener Bangladesh.” The event, jointly organized by the Pabna District Administration and the Social Forestry Department, was inaugurated on Monday morning at the Bir Muktijoddha Rafiqul Islam Bakul Shadhinata Chattar (Independence Square).

The inauguration ceremony began with a colorful rally that started from the District Commissioner’s office and paraded through the main roads of the city.

Pabna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mofizul Islam formally inaugurated the fair by cutting a ribbon and releasing balloons and pigeons. Several officials and dignitaries were present at the event.

The event was presided over by Divisional Social Forestry Officer Kazi Tariqur Rahman. Among those in attendance were Civil Surgeon Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, Additional Superintendent of Police Mashiur Rahman Mondal, and Pabna Press Club President Akhtaruzzaman Akhtar.

Following the formal ceremony, guests visited various stalls set up for the fair. A total of 30 stalls have been installed, showcasing a wide range of fruit-bearing and flowering plants.

The fair will remain open to the public from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily for the next seven days. Organizers hope that the initiative will raise awareness about environmental sustainability and inspire residents to participate actively in tree planting efforts across the district.
