RAJSHAHI, Aug 06 (V7N) — Officials, political leaders and local residents paid tribute to July Uprising martyr Sakib Anjum on Wednesday by visiting his grave in Rajshahi as part of the observance of July Uprising Day 2026.

The tribute took place at 8:00 a.m. at Tikapara Cemetery in Rajshahi city, where participants offered prayers seeking peace and forgiveness for the deceased.

Among those attending were Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator and Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Md Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, Rajshahi Superintendent of Police Mohammad Naimul Hasan, and Sakib Anjum's father, Md Mainul Haque.

The prayers were led by Maulana Md Najmul Islam, Khatib of the Rajshahi Collectorate Mosque.

Also present were Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sabur Ali, Rajshahi City Corporation Secretary Sohel Rana, Boalia Police Station (East) BNP President Ashraful Islam Nipu, General Secretary Alauddin, Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP Office Secretary Muidur Rahman Moeed, along with local leaders and distinguished residents.

The grave visit and prayer ceremony formed part of local programmes commemorating those who lost their lives during the July Uprising.
