Pabna, July 3 (V7N) – Leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a protest rally and demonstration in Chatmohar Upazila of Pabna district on Thursday following what they described as a surprise procession by Awami League supporters in the area.

The demonstration, organised by the Mulgram Union BNP, took place in the Rail Bazar area on Thursday afternoon.

Party activists brought out a procession from the local BNP office, marching along the Chatmohar–Tebunia road and through the railway station area before concluding with a protest rally at Rail Bazar intersection.

The meeting was chaired by Jahangir Alam Likhon Biswas, former president of Mulgram Union BNP, and moderated by Liton Biswas, convener of the Chatmohar Upazila Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal. Several local BNP and affiliated organisation leaders addressed the gathering.

During the rally, speakers alleged that leaders and activists of the Awami League were attempting to create instability in the otherwise peaceful upazila. They warned that any future political processions by the Awami League in Chatmohar would be resisted. The speakers also urged supporters to maintain peace while accusing their political rivals of attempting to provoke unrest through sudden demonstrations.

According to BNP leaders, the protest was organised in response to a brief procession reportedly held by Awami League activists in Mulgram on Wednesday afternoon. They claimed local BNP activists arrived at the scene after learning of the procession but found no participants, as they had already dispersed. BNP supporters later staged their own protest march in the area.

The Awami League was not immediately available for comment on the allegations made during the BNP rally.
