Islamic University, Jan 14 (V7N): A leader of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) organization was detained while attending a retake exam at Islamic University (IU) and subsequently handed over to the police.

Mamun Or Roshid, the vice president of the banned organization, is a master's student in the Management Department (2022–23 academic session). His appearance at the exam sparked protests, with students raising slogans against him, accusing him of campus influence and opposition to student movements.

The situation escalated around 1:30 PM when faculty members, the university's assistant proctor, student advisor, and anti-discrimination student movement coordinators intervened, leading to his detention and transfer to law enforcement.

Assistant Proctor Dr. Fakrul Islam confirmed, "The student has been handed over to the police, and appropriate action will be taken."

Students emphasized their stand, asserting, "No one involved in banned organizations or opposing student movements should be allowed back on campus."
