Rajshahi, Nov 25 (V7N) – Rajshahi University (RU) convened an emergency meeting on Sunday to assess recent earthquake-related risks and determine necessary safety measures. The meeting was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Saleh Hasan Nakeeb and attended by Pro-Vice-Chancellors Professor Mohammad Main Uddin (Administration) and Professor Moha. Farid Uddin Khan (Academic), Proctor Professor Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Student Adviser Dr. Md. Amirul Islam, Public Relations Officer Professor Md. Akhtar Hossain Majumdar, as well as hall principals and student leaders from RUCSU and hall student councils.

The discussion focused on temporarily vacating residential halls and transitioning to online classes for safety inspections by technical committees in light of recent seismic activity. Student representatives emphasized their preference to avoid session delays and expressed that they do not support closing the university. They assured full cooperation in on-site inspections while keeping academic activities uninterrupted.

It was decided that the administration will conduct phased inspections of academic and residential buildings through the designated technical committees. Residential halls will remain open, and classes and examinations will continue as scheduled, ensuring student safety while maintaining academic continuity.
