Rajshahi, Feb 13 (V7N) – Tanveer Saleheen Imon, a Senior Superintendent of Police (SP), was arrested from the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi, by a team from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) on Tuesday night at around 10 p.m.
Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police (Crime Management) of Rajshahi Range, Sarwar Jahan, confirmed the arrest, stating that the DMP team arrived from Dhaka and took SP Tanveer Saleheen Imon into custody. He added that the specific reasons or charges for the arrest could only be clarified by the DB.
Tanveer Saleheen hails from Kishoreganj and comes from a family with a strong political background, with his father being a freedom fighter and a former General Secretary of the Awami League in the Karimganj Upazila. He joined the police force in 2010 through the 28th BCS Police cadre. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his outstanding performance, being awarded the record 27 times as the best Circle Officer in Comilla District. In 2022, he was promoted to the rank of SP.
Previously, he served as the Deputy Commissioner of the DMP (Headquarters and Administration) and was later appointed as the SP at the Police Academy in Sardah after the fall of the Awami League government. Recently, he had been issuing show-cause notices to police officers and constables undergoing training at the academy.
