Dhaka, Oct 30 (V7N)- The Metro Rail authorities have announced that Irene Akhter Piya, wife of pedestrian Abul Kalam Azad, who died after being struck by a falling bearing pad at Farmgate Metro Rail Station, will be given a job. Her post will be determined after verification of her educational qualifications.
The tragic incident occurred last Sunday around 12:30 pm, when a bearing pad fell off pillar number 433 on the west side of the station, striking 35-year-old Azad on the head and killing him instantly.
Following the accident, Fawzul Kabir Khan, advisor to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Ministry of Railways, visited the site. He confirmed that a five-member investigation committee has been formed, led by Mohammad Abdur Rouf, Secretary of the Bridges Division, which will submit its report within two weeks.
After the incident, Irene Piya filed a case with Tejgaon Police Station the same night.
