TRISHAL, April 25 (V7N) — A preparatory meeting has been held in Trishal, Mymensingh to celebrate the 127th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam with due dignity and grandeur.

The meeting, organized by the district administration, took place Saturday morning at the Rashedul Islam Conference Hall of Trishal Upazila Parishad. It was presided over by Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Md. Saifur Rahman, with Dr. Mahabubur Rahman Liton, MP for Mymensingh‑7 (Trishal), attending as chief guest. Officials from district and upazila levels, teachers, local dignitaries, and media representatives were present.

Detailed discussions were held to finalize programs surrounding the celebration in Trishal, a place deeply associated with the memory of the national poet. Plans were made to ensure the event is conducted in an orderly and festive atmosphere, highlighting Nazrul’s ideals and spirit.

In his speech, MP Dr. Mahabubur Rahman Liton announced that the five‑day celebration will be held under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs from May 21 to May 25. On the final day, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to attend the poet’s birth anniversary program in Trishal.

Dr. Liton expressed hope that the Prime Minister would declare Trishal as Nazrul City, elevating its cultural significance. He emphasized that the national event will play a vital role in transmitting Nazrul’s ideals to the younger generation.
