Dinajpur, Oct 2 (V7N) – Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare Minister Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain today provided medical services to underprivileged people during a visit to his home area, personally examining patients who had come from four upazilas of his constituency to receive healthcare services.

"I always try to remain beside the people of my constituency. Alongside performing my government responsibilities, I am providing medical care and other possible services to disadvantaged people out of a sense of humanitarian responsibility," he said.

As a physician, ensuring healthcare for disadvantaged people is his moral responsibility, he added.

Md Amzad Ali, a local resident who came to receive treatment, said, "Although the minister is a person from our area, despite his busy schedule, he has come to his own village and is providing medical treatment and advice to patients who have come to see him. Like me, many other poor and distressed people, as well as women, men, elderly people and children, are discussing their health problems with him and receiving medical care."

A 67-year-old indigenous woman, Aloka Murmu, echoed the same sentiment. She said, "I have been suffering from fever, cold and cough for six days. The minister examined me thoroughly and gave me free medicines to help me recover from the fever, cold and cough. I had previously received treatment from the minister for stomach pain and recovered."

Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, a physician by profession, has been providing free medical care to underprivileged people in his constituency alongside his ministerial duties. His initiative reflects the government's broader efforts to improve healthcare access for marginalized communities and bring medical services closer to people's doorsteps. The government has been implementing various healthcare programmes, including the establishment of health hubs in every union and health welfare centres at the ward level, to ensure accessible and quality healthcare for all citizens.
