Speaking virtually at a wheelchair distribution program on Monday, Tarique said, “I urge everyone in society to help those impacted by the movement within their capacity.”
The program, organized by Amra BNP Poribar, was held at the National Press Club and provided wheelchairs to 10 individuals injured during the student movement against what Tarique described as "Sheikh Hasina's autocratic regime."
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi emphasized the BNP’s role in supporting the current interim government, which he said was formed with the backing of the BNP and other groups opposing Sheikh Hasina’s rule.
However, Rizvi expressed concerns over the Chief Adviser’s recent comments to an international media outlet, suggesting a four-year tenure for the interim government to implement reforms. “The country’s people want to know why four years are necessary for reforms and elections,” he said, warning against any attempts to prolong the government's power under the guise of reform.
He reiterated that politicians have historically led state reforms and should continue to do so, with the interim government providing recommendations rather than taking an extended role in governance.
