Dhaka, Jan 07, (V7N) - The Jatiya Nagorik Committee has taken action against four of its members by dismissing them from two representative committees due to credible allegations of their involvement with the Awami League, Juba League connections, drug use, and smuggling activities. The decision was announced in separate press releases on Monday, signed by the committee’s convenor Nasiruddin Patwari and member secretary Akhtar Hossain.
Details of the Dismissals:
Sharif Bakoul (Khilgaon Thana Representative Committee):
Sharif Bakoul was dismissed after it was found that he had ties to the Dhaka Metropolitan South's Ward 1 Juba League. The allegation against him, verified through an investigation, stated that he had been a worker in the Juba League, which led to his removal from the committee.
Nazrul Islam (Kotiadi Upazila Representative Committee, Kishoreganj):
Nazrul Islam faced dismissal for his involvement with the Awami League, as he was found to have acted as an accomplice in a fraudulent election process in Pakundia Upazila. He had been working with the local Awami League president, Sohorab Uddin, to manipulate the electoral process. This connection led to the committee's decision to expel him.
Imranul Haque and Al Mamun (Kotiadi Upazila Representative Committee, Kishoreganj):
These two members were dismissed due to their associations with fascism and illegal activities, including drug use and smuggling. They were found to be involved in supporting fascist ideologies and engaging in drug-related crimes, which prompted their removal from the committee.
Press Release:
The committee’s press release stated:
“After careful investigation and in accordance with the principles of integrity and transparency, we have concluded that these individuals violated the ethical standards and core values upheld by the Jatiya Nagorik Committee. Their involvement with criminal activities and political connections to controversial parties has led to this decision.”
The notice further explained that the committee has always maintained a strict stance against corruption, political manipulation, and illegal activities. These actions are part of their commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability within the organization.
Conclusion:
The dismissals highlight the committee’s ongoing efforts to enforce accountability and uphold the integrity of its representatives. The Jatiya Nagorik Committee emphasized that they will continue to take such actions against any member found violating ethical standards.
