DHAKA, March 24, (V7N) — BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has claimed that a new conspiracy is being hatched to destabilize Bangladesh and put its independence and sovereignty in jeopardy.

Speaking at an iftar mahfil hosted by the BNP Media Cell at the Ladies Club in Dhaka, Fakhrul alleged that important national institutions—particularly the army—are being deliberately made controversial.

“There will be no benefit from this conspiracy. Its sole purpose is to endanger the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh, just as it was done during past fascist governments,” he said.

BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, addressing the event virtually from London, echoed similar concerns.

Fakhrul further claimed that a “wicked attempt” is being made to discredit the Bangladeshi military, which he described as a patriotic force that has always stood by the nation during critical times.

He also urged journalists to stand against the “smear campaign” targeting BNP, emphasizing their role as the conscience of the nation in times of crisis.
