Rajshahi, Apr 06 (V7N) – A senior leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) delivered a scathing critique of the current government during an Eid reunion event organized by party affiliates in Rajshahi on Saturday afternoon. Mizanur Rahman Minu, an advisor to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and former mayor of Rajshahi, served as the chief guest at the program titled "Free from Fascist Autocrat Hasina in New Bangladesh."

"On Saturday afternoon, Shah Makhdum and Chandima Thana BNP, its affiliates and affiliated organizations organized the Eid reunion program 'Free from Fascist Autocrat Hasina in New Bangladesh' organized by Mizanur Rahman Minu, advisor to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, former mayor of RASIK and member of parliament. He said these things while speaking as the chief guest," a local BNP organizer confirmed.

In his address, Minu alleged that during the tenure of the current government, citizens have been unable to freely practice their religion and celebrate Eid. He further claimed that individuals with beards and caps were subjected to torture under the suspicion of being militants. Minu also stated that the government had previously obstructed the funerals of deceased BNP leaders, activists, and supporters.

"He said these things while speaking as the chief guest... Whenever they saw people with beards and caps, they were tortured because they were militants. Even when BNP leaders and activists and supporters died, the chief used to prevent them from holding funerals," Minu reportedly stated.

Extending Eid greetings, Minu lauded the BNP's past movements and struggles over the past seventeen years, claiming that 200,000 party members were imprisoned, 150 went missing, and 200 were martyred during these activities.

"Wishing everyone a united Eid celebration and Eid reunion, he added, 'In the past seventeen years, BNP has carried out every movement and struggle correctly and beautifully. Two hundred thousand leaders and activists were imprisoned while carrying out this movement. 150 leaders have gone missing. And 200 leaders and activists have been martyred during that time,'" Minu asserted.

Minu reiterated the BNP's historical narrative, crediting martyred President Ziaur Rahman with the declaration of independence and the formation of Bangladesh in 1971. He contended that the Awami League's rule following independence led to subjugation, from which Ziaur Rahman was allegedly freed by a popular movement before taking charge of the country.

"He said, a new country called Bangladesh was formed in 1971 with the declaration of independence by martyred President Ziaur Rahman. After independence, the people of the country were bound by the shackles of subjugation as the Awami League was in power. At that time, the Sepoys released Ziaur Rahman from prison through a popular movement. Later, Ziaur Rahman took charge of the country," Minu stated.

He further praised Begum Khaleda Zia's role in overthrowing the Ershad government and her efforts to re-establish democracy. Minu then sharply criticized Sheikh Hasina, accusing her of returning the country to a state of subjugation and alleging the imprisonment of Begum Zia in a false case and the torture of Tarique Zia.

"He further said, after overthrowing the dictator Ershad government, his worthy wife Begum Khaleda Zia took to the streets and led the people of the country in a movement to free the country from dictatorship. He also mentioned that she re-established democracy in the country. Then again, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's most disgraceful daughter, the most hated politician and dictator in the history of the world, Sheikh Hasina came to power and bound the people of Bangladesh in the chains of subjugation. During her tenure, the people of the country had no freedom. Begum Zia was sent to prison on a false case. Tareq Zia was inhumanly tortured and tried to kill him. Now he is in London, undergoing medical treatment," Minu claimed.

Minu stated that Tarique Rahman is directing the movement from London to restore democracy and voting rights. He also referenced the alleged suppression of protests in July-August 2024, where student demonstrators were reportedly shot and killed. He cautioned against "neo-BNP members" and warned of action against those who support them.

"To protect the country and its people from the clutches of this dictator Hasina and to ensure democracy and the right to vote Fabric Rahman far away London From Movement Directions Gave. Long Fifteen Year He/She This Movement Continue Gone. Whose Result Being 2024 Year July - August results. To suppress this movement and prolong her power, Sheikh Hasina indiscriminately shot and killed the student crowd. Many leaders, activists and supporters of BNP, its affiliates and allied organizations were killed and injured in this movement. After this movement, many neo-BNP members are being seen. He also warned that action will be taken against those who shelter them," Minu asserted.

Minu described the current government as an "emergency or interim government" led by a "good and acceptable person," but expressed concern over some advisors. He warned that BNP loyalists would resist any attempts to conspire against the country and urged everyone to be prepared for future challenges.

"He also said that the current government is an emergency or interim government. The head of this government is a good and acceptable person to everyone. But there are some among his advisors whose behavior is not good. If someone starts conspiring against the country again, the soldiers of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman will not give up. He mentioned that they will once again take to the field to protect the country and its people. He also urged everyone to be ready to face all kinds of conspiracies," Minu concluded.
