Dhaka, July 15 (V7N) – Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayebe Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman on Monday declared a firm stance against extortion, asserting that no extortionist will be spared regardless of political affiliation. “The struggle will take place wherever there are extortionists. Zero tolerance in this regard — it doesn’t matter which party they belong to,” he said.

He made these remarks at a press conference held at the National Press Club, organized to support the demands of the Bangladesh Ideal Teachers Federation (BITF).

Professor Mujibur Rahman criticized those involved in extortion, calling them “so-called educated claimants” with poor moral character. He linked the issue of extortion to broader systemic problems in education, demanding that the government implement urgent reforms.

“The education policy of Bangladesh today is not for humans — it is for animals. What we’re creating are animals in human form,” he stated, harshly criticizing the current system.

Teachers Demand Job Nationalization and Salary Reform

At the event, the BITF placed strong demands, including:

  • Nationalization of jobs for teachers and staff of all private, MPO-affiliated, and technical institutions.

  • Introduction of an independent and permanent salary scale for educators.

  • Immediate acceptance of their 25-point charter of demands.

The federation warned that they will continue their movement until their key demands are met.

Jamaat’s Support for the Teachers’ Movement

Professor Mujibur Rahman voiced full support for the teachers’ cause, urging the government to accept their demands without delay. He reiterated the need for the highest possible budget allocation for the education sector, calling it a national priority.

The press conference concluded with a united call for educational reform, the eradication of extortion from all sectors, and recognition of teachers as the backbone of the nation.
