Dhaka, Sep 15 (V7N) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has warned of launching a tough movement if the next national elections are not conducted under the proportional representation (PR) system. Alongside this, the party has announced a series of protest programs pressing a five-point demand, including implementation of the national charter.

The announcement came from Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher during a press conference at the Al-Falah Auditorium in Moghbazar on Monday (Sept 15).

According to the program schedule, Jamaat will hold:

  • September 18 – Protest procession in Dhaka

  • September 19 – Protest processions in all divisional cities

  • September 26 – Nationwide demonstrations

Taher cautioned that without giving legal foundation to the July Charter, the achievements of the recent mass uprising could risk being undone.

He further stated that while many political parties share similar demands and may eventually join the movement, Jamaat is not yet labeling it a “simultaneous movement.”

Discussions are ongoing with parties aligned with the spirit of the July uprising, he added.
