Dhaka, Jan 22 (V7N) — The National Citizens Party (NCP) officially launched its election campaign on Thursday (January 22) morning by paying tribute at the graves of three party leaders and Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman.

The campaign was inaugurated by NCP Convener and Dhaka-11 constituency candidate Nahid Islam, who said the party deliberately chose the Dhaka University area to begin its election journey due to its historic significance.

Speaking to journalists, Nahid Islam said, “The Language Movement, the Liberation War, and the 24th uprising all began from the Dhaka University area. That is why we have started our election journey from here.”

He described the upcoming election as an anti-dominance political movement, stating that Nasiruddin Patwari is contesting on behalf of the 10-party unity alliance against what he termed a ‘new mafia.’ He urged citizens to support and ensure the victory of the alliance.

Nahid Islam also accused the Election Commission of failing to remain neutral, alleging that it is acting in favor of one particular party and granting it special advantages. He claimed the party had raised this concern multiple times.

Meanwhile, NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari said that justice remains one of the party’s key agendas in the election. He demanded accountability for those injured and killed during the 24th movement, including martyr Osman Hadi.

The NCP leaders reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice, fair elections, and political accountability as the campaign moves forward.
