Miami, July 09 (V7N) – Since the arrival of Lionel Messi, Inter Miami has witnessed a complete transformation—on and off the pitch. Ticket sales have skyrocketed, jersey demand has exploded, and social media engagement has soared. Backed by these commercial and sporting successes, the David Beckham-owned club is now eyeing another Argentine World Cup hero: Rodrigo De Paul.

According to reports from Argentine outlet TyC Sports, the 31-year-old midfielder, currently at Atlético Madrid, has received a formal offer from Inter Miami. Notably, Lionel Messi himself is believed to be directly involved in the effort to bring his close friend and national teammate to Florida.

De Paul, often dubbed as Messi’s “bodyguard” for his fierce loyalty and on-field chemistry, played a crucial role in Argentina’s 2022 World Cup triumph in Qatar. His addition would further strengthen Miami’s Argentine core and could mark another big step in the club’s ambitious project.

However, Inter Miami has not yet begun official negotiations with Atlético Madrid. Club sources indicate that discussions with the Spanish side will only begin if De Paul shows interest in the offer. His current contract with Atlético runs until June 2026.

De Paul joined Atlético Madrid in July 2021, and has since made 187 appearances, scoring 14 goals. He remains a key figure in Diego Simeone’s midfield but could be tempted by the opportunity to reunite with Messi and other Latin stars in the MLS.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami recently made their debut in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup, but were eliminated in the Round of 16 after a 0-4 defeat to European giants Paris Saint-Germain.

As the MLS club continues to build a squad of global stars, Rodrigo De Paul could be the next big name to take his talents to Miami.
