Madrid, Apr 11 (V7N) – Spanish football giants Real Madrid are reportedly shortlisting candidates for their next head coach, with France manager Didier Deschamps emerging as a leading option, according to various European media reports.

Deschamps, who won the FIFA World Cup both as a player and as a coach with France national football team, has already confirmed that he will step down after the 2026 World Cup.

Reports suggest Real Madrid are closely monitoring his situation, viewing him as a strong candidate to replace current coach Alvaro Arbeloa, amid growing pressure on the club’s recent performances.

The club is currently six points behind FC Barcelona in La Liga with one match in hand and also suffered a setback after losing the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich.

Deschamps’ experience at the highest level and his successful history with star forward Kylian Mbappe—whom he guided to World Cup glory—are seen as key reasons why Real Madrid may pursue him as part of a long-term rebuilding plan.
