London, May 03 (V7N) — Arsenal FC delivered a dominant performance to defeat Fulham FC 3-0, increasing pressure on Manchester City FC in the Premier League title race.
A brace from Viktor Gyökeres and an outstanding display by Bukayo Saka powered the Gunners to victory at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Arsenal took full control early in the match, scoring all three goals in the first half. Gyökeres opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a simple finish from Saka’s precise cross.
Saka then doubled the lead, finishing confidently after being set up in the attack, as Arsenal continued to dominate proceedings.
Gyökeres added his second goal and Arsenal’s third late in the first half, heading in from a cross by Leandro Trossard. The goal marked his 21st of the season in all competitions.
Saka, returning from an Achilles injury that had sidelined him since late March, delivered a standout performance, troubling Fulham’s defense throughout the match.
The win puts Arsenal six points clear at the top of the table, although they have played two more matches than Manchester City. City are set to face Everton FC on Monday (May 4), with games in hand that could prove decisive in the title race.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made five changes to the lineup compared to the side that faced Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final.
With the defeat, Fulham extended their winless run at Arsenal’s home ground to 33 matches.
