Rosario, July 26 (V7N)- Argentina captain Lionel Messi has made his first public appearance since his country's World Cup final defeat, attending a football match of fourth-tier Argentine club Leones de Rosario in his hometown of Rosario.
Messi was seen watching the match of Leones de Rosario, a club whose president is his elder brother Matias Messi. The club was originally founded by Messi's family in 2015 and currently competes in Primera C, the fourth tier of Argentine football.
Following Argentina's defeat in the World Cup final, a section of the national team led by head coach Lionel Scaloni returned to Buenos Aires, where thousands of supporters gathered to welcome them. However, Messi did not travel with the team and instead returned directly to Rosario.
Reports said Messi is expected to join Inter Miami after spending time with his family during the holiday period. However, the exact date of his return to the Major League Soccer (MLS) club has not been confirmed.
Inter Miami have already begun their new MLS season, but club officials are reportedly willing to provide Messi with sufficient time to recover both physically and mentally after the demanding World Cup campaign.
Since the World Cup final, Messi has remained largely quiet on social media. He made only one post after the match and did not join his teammates on the return flight to Argentina, although he was later seen arriving in his hometown of Rosario.
The Argentine superstar's next steps remain a major focus for football fans worldwide as he prepares for the next chapter of his career.
