Nov 21, (V7N) - During his state visit to Brazil, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged for more international voices committed to peace in resolving the Ukraine conflict and called for a ceasefire in Gaza. Both Xi and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva proposed a joint roadmap for peace in Ukraine, which has been endorsed by Russia, but rejected by Ukraine and its Western allies.

Xi also echoed calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, aligning with statements made by G20 leaders during a summit held in Rio. This was part of China's broader diplomatic push for peace through dialogue, contrasting with the ongoing military actions in Gaza and Ukraine.

The visit marked a significant moment for Sino-Brazilian relations, with 35 cooperation agreements signed, focusing on trade, agriculture, technology, and environmental protection. Brazil's growing relationship with China is seen as part of the broader shift in global influence, particularly as the influence of the US seems to be waning, with analysts noting that Xi Jinping is positioning China to fill any diplomatic vacuum that may arise after the election of Donald Trump as US president.
