New Delhi, May 2 (V7N) – U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth spoke with Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday to express condolences over the recent deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of several civilians.
The conversation was confirmed in an official post on X (formerly Twitter) by the office of Rajnath Singh. According to the post, Secretary Hegseth conveyed deep sympathy for the victims and reiterated America’s unwavering support for India’s right to self-defense.
“U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the U.S. government stands in solidarity with India and reaffirms its support for India's right to self-defense,” the statement read.
The reaffirmation comes in the wake of a major terrorist incident in Pahalgam, a region in Jammu and Kashmir, which saw a surge in militant activity targeting civilians.
