Dhaka, May 02 (V7N) – In an effort to ensure the smooth and orderly management of Hajj 2025, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has strongly urged Bangladeshi citizens—both those residing in Bangladesh and in Saudi Arabia—not to attempt to perform Hajj without official authorization.

The Ministry has specifically warned against staying in Mecca or entering the surrounding holy areas with visit visas during the Hajj season, emphasizing that such actions violate Saudi regulations. Citizens have also been advised not to sponsor, transport, or assist unauthorized pilgrims, nor to arrange accommodation for them in Mecca or adjacent areas.

This announcement follows a new set of strict guidelines issued by the Saudi Arabian government. According to the rules, only individuals with an official Hajj permit, a work authorization for the holy sites, or a registered residence certificate (Iqama) in Mecca will be allowed entry to the sacred city during the Hajj season—from Zilqad 1 (April 29) to Zilhaj 14 (June 10).

The Saudi Ministry of Interior has declared that violators of this regulation will face significant penalties:

  • 20,000 Saudi Riyals fine for performing Hajj without a valid permit.

  • Up to 100,000 Riyals fine for anyone found assisting unauthorized pilgrims.

  • Vehicle confiscation upon court order if used in aiding such offenses.

  • Immediate deportation and a 10-year ban from re-entry into Saudi Arabia for foreign nationals who overstay or attempt to perform Hajj without a permit.

Religious Affairs Advisor Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain emphasized the critical importance of respecting these laws. “We must not let any individual action jeopardize the broader interests of Bangladesh. Our relationship with Saudi Arabia is vital—not only because of religious ties but also due to the 3.5 million Bangladeshi workers there and the remittance flow they provide. Unauthorized Hajj attempts can have serious consequences,” he said.

Religious Affairs Secretary AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik echoed this, stating, “Hajj is a bilateral operation that depends on close cooperation between the Saudi government and participating Muslim countries. Without full compliance, orderly and secure Hajj management cannot be achieved.”

He added that a collaborative team effort, public awareness, and adherence to all Saudi laws are essential. "We appreciate the Saudi government’s efforts and hope all Bangladeshi citizens will act responsibly to uphold the sanctity and success of Hajj 2025."

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating a peaceful, lawful, and spiritually fulfilling Hajj journey for all approved Bangladeshi pilgrims.
