Aug 03 (V7N) - Ukrainian attacks on a Russian resort village and Moscow-annexed Crimea—both popular summer destinations for Russian tourists—claimed six lives on Monday, according to local officials.
Three people were killed in the Black Sea coastal village of Arkhipo-Osipovka "due to falling UAV (drone) debris," Krasnodar region governor Venyamin Kondratyev reported on Telegram. He added that 13 others, including children, were wounded and described the strike as targeting civilian infrastructure.
Ukraine has been launching hundreds of drones into Russia nightly in retaliation for Moscow's sustained bombardment of Ukrainian towns and cities. Russia began its full-scale invasion in February 2022 and has regularly struck its neighbour, including from the Crimean peninsula.
Ukraine has intensified counter-strikes on Crimea—which Moscow annexed in 2014—in recent months, causing electricity and fuel shortages this summer. In a separate incident overnight, a Ukrainian strike in Crimea killed three civilians, according to Moscow-installed governor Sergey Aksyonov, who did not specify the exact location or provide further details about the victims.
