DHAKA, Dec 28,(V7N) — Nigar Sultana Joty continues to rewrite the history of Bangladesh Women's cricket by achieving a remarkable feat in the ongoing Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL). Joty became the first Bangladeshi female cricketer to score a century in first-class cricket and has now set another record by hitting centuries in consecutive matches.

In her first-round match, Joty scored a brilliant 153 against North Zone. She followed it up with an even higher score of 171 against East Zone in the second round. Despite her heroics, both matches ended in draws.

Joty was not alone in her batting brilliance. Her teammate Murshida Khatun, who resumed Day 3 on 122, briefly broke Joty’s record for the highest individual score in BCL with her 170. However, Joty reclaimed the record shortly after, surpassing Murshida’s score before being dismissed by Taj Nehar.

Thanks to the duo's outstanding contributions, Central Zone amassed 528-8 in their only innings, dominating the game.

In response, East Zone, led by opener Dilara Dola’s century (102), managed 354 in their innings, but the match concluded in a draw.

The other match of the round also ended in a stalemate, with North Zone and South Zone battling hard over three days.

North Zone's First Innings: Bowled out for 238.

South Zone's First Innings: Fell short with 220, conceding an 18-run deficit.

North Zone's Second Innings: Sobhana Mostary's maiden century (118) helped them declare at 257-5, setting a target of 275 runs.

South Zone's Response: Faced a spirited bowling attack but held on to reach 232-8 at stumps, securing a draw.

Nigar Sultana Joty’s consecutive centuries are a landmark moment for Bangladesh Women’s cricket, showcasing the growth of the sport in the country.
