SINGAPORE, Sept 23 V7N- Lando Norris secured a thrilling victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, delivering a dominant performance for McLaren despite a few heart-stopping moments that kept his team on edge. Leading every lap from pole position, Norris finished 20 seconds ahead of Formula One title contender Max Verstappen, closing the championship gap to 52 points.

Reflecting on the race, Norris acknowledged a few "close calls" at turns eight and 14, where he narrowly avoided damage to his car after skimming the wall. In the first incident, he feared front wing damage, but McLaren decided against changing it during his pit stop, and luckily, there was no harm. He had another near-miss on lap 45, once again grazing the wall, prompting his race engineer to remind him to stay fully focused.

Norris admitted that sometimes "you're just chilling too much," attributing the minor slips to a mix of relaxation and the challenging conditions on track, where it was easy to lock up the tires.

McLaren's chief executive Zak Brown and team principal Andrea Stella joked about the tense moments, with Brown recalling how Norris casually mentioned the wall contacts after the race. Stella humorously added that Norris might have been checking whether the team was still awake at the pit wall. Fortunately, the incidents had no significant consequences, allowing the team to regain composure and maintain their race rhythm.

Norris' performance marked a pivotal moment in his season, as he continues to mount a challenge in the championship.
